Questions families ask

  • My son has never played. Can he join?

Yes. Blue Valley Lacrosse gives boys an opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse, and our spring programming begins in kindergarten with our in-house league. KC Elevate's camps, clinics and leagues in the summer, fall and winter are great opportunities to learn the game for the first time.

  • Does my son need a USA Lacrosse number?

Yes. Our league uses USA Lacrosse for liability insurance, and each player is required to have a USA Lacrosse number for the season. It is required during registration, so please have your number available when registering.

  • What equipment is required?

Helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, stick, mouth guard, cleats and an athletic cup.

  • What about uniforms?

1st and 2nd graders receive a uniform with their registration (no purchase required). 3rd and 4th graders are required to have the jersey (shorts optional). 5th to 8th graders are required to have a jersey and shorts. The uniform store opens in January and is emailed out to all registered players.

  • What were the season fees?

For the 2026 season: 1st and 2nd grade (in-house) $150, 3rd and 4th grade $195, 5th and 6th grade $250, 7th and 8th grade $250. A 2-payment installment option was available during checkout. The uniform fee was an extra add-on fee if purchased. A $25 regular fee was assessed on February 2. Spring 2027 fees are not posted yet.

  • When does the season start?

Practice begins in early March on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3rd to 8th grade, with games beginning in late March. Kindergarten to 2nd grade practices on Thursdays and scrimmages on Saturdays; in 2026 it began on Thursday, April 2. The season runs through mid May.

  • Where are games played?

Home games are played at Blue Valley North, 12200 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66209; away games are played around Kansas City. The schedule is available from the league in early March.

  • Is there practice over spring break?

No. There is no practice over spring break.
